AWANA Awards

Wednesday night was the last night of AWANA....Praise. the. Lord! It was a wonderful year, but I was seriously running out of steam. It was a dream of mine to see AWANA at our church and it was an absolute joy to help make that happen. I am thrilled with all the God did this year through this program. There really is nothing sweeter than hearing the Word come out of your babies mouth. I can proudly say that both of my boys memorized 20 verses this year!

To cap off the year, we had an awards ceremony. We wanted to make it a special time where each child was recognized for their hard work. We also wanted to be sure to encourage parents to keep learning God's Word with their kids. I was really proud of our parents during the ceremony. They hooted and hollered for every. single. name. that was called. It was the highlight of my week to call each child's name and get to see the pride they felt as they walked across the stage to thunderous applause. Each child was utterly famous for those few moments.

These are the Cubbies. This was the part of AWANA that I was in charge of. It consists of 3-4 year olds (although now they are almost all 4 and 5). We had 30 enrolled Cubbies and they collectively memorized over 350 verses this year! Isn't that amazing!?
Each Cubbie received an award with their name on it, a Cubbie cup, some candy, and a Cubbie Bear Pin to place on their vests.
I was so proud....and I couldn't resist the opportunity to show it. Nathan gives such sweet sugar!

Kaleb was the only Cubbie who had actually been to AWANA before (last year I took him to Bartlett Baptist Church) so he got a special ribbon to signify his completion of BOTH years of Cubbies. He was so thrilled with himself. His brother, however, was not so thrilled. Nathan was less then pleased that he did not get EXACTLY what his brother got. Oh how I pray that they will learn to be content in all circumstances!

Aubri had a grand time during the Cubbie awards. At first she cried and wailed because her mommy was not able to hold her. Then....a miracle occurred.....Erin Wukasch walked into the gym. Erin is one of Aubri's favorite people in the whole world. Once Aubri saw her she began to scream out "ERIE....ERIE....ERIE" continually until we had no choice but to let Erin hold her through the entire program. Never mind that Erin was on stage for most of the program....that didn't seem to bother Aubri at all. She had her "Erie" and all was right with the world!
