Such a deal

There are lots of addictions in life. Some good, some bad. I have a new one....saving money. I am thinking it falls in to the good category. This addiction has been unearthed with the discovery of a new blog. It is called hip2save. The writer on this blog researches deals, sales, coupons, and strategies for saving money. And I am SO grateful for her generosity. She not only shares her findings, but she also links you to the coupons so you can print them out. It has been a fun adventure to clip these coupons and try to get things for free. Call me a freak if you want....I will take that title as long as I can save bunches of dollars!

My first real money saving trip to the store was to purchase the following items...

How much do you think I spent???

$25?

$20?

$15?

$10?

Nope....I spent $7.64! That's right, I got 10 drumsticks, Wheat Thins, Ritz crackers, Kraft Mayo, new Aquafresh double whitening toothpaste, a toothbrush, Kashi Go Lean Blueberry waffles, and 2 Hershey Bliss candy bars for just $7.64! My bill before coupons was around $22. Can you believe it? This is so much fun!

If you want to search for deals on the hip2save blog too you can click here to give it a try. Happy saving!

Sweetest people you'll ever meet....also, our future family!

Let me introduce you to one of the sweetest families you will ever meet. These are our friends, the Whaleys. Richie, Lindsey, Luke, and Jackson have all become so meaningful in our lives. We are blessed to call them friends. Lindsey and I have worked together the past year at KDO....I teach music and she is the director of the program. We also had our babies just 2 days apart. Now we do bootcamp together as well. And Richie....well....he has been a God-send for both Rayden and I. As a pastor it can be difficult to find people that you can just let loose with. People are always expecting certain things from you, changing their own behavior when you are around, and ask you questions about church that you don't feel comfortable answering. Rayden has always had his buddy, Donnie, to be himself with. But, recently Donnie moved to Austin. I was fervently praying that God would send Rayden someone who he could just truly be himself with...no pressure....no strings attached. It was about this time that Richie appeared. Richie and Lindsey began to take an interest in serving the students of Forest Hill. Rayden and Richie immediately hit it off and started hanging out about once a week. He was the friend that I was praying God would send to Rayden. They are so much alike it is almost scary. Lindsey and I tease them that they go on "man dates" each week....all kidding aside....I am so glad Rayden has a friend like Richie.

And then there is Luke and Jackson....two of the sweetest boys you will ever encounter. Luke and Kaleb are about 6 months apart in age and they are in the same class at KDO. Like their dads, they are also very similar. They have oodles of energy, are very smart, charming, and handsome. They also like to get into the same kind of trouble. Nathan and Luke are also good friends. The three of them are like peas in a pod!

And baby Jackson. He is just two days younger than Aubri. He has the sweetest little devilish grin that makes you think he just got into something. He is shy and funny....and boy does he love the Wiggles. There is something else he loves also....my daughter! These two are precious together. They play so well....they share and give hugs (mostly Aubri tries to hug and Jackson runs away). The entire week at the beach they kept soothing each other when they were upset and calling for each other when they were gone. It was precious.

Now I know I have no REAL say in who my baby girl will marry, but I would be just fine to pick this family out for her. They are loving, generous, kind, fun, and easy to be with. I can only imagine what stories we will have to tell as our friendship grows.

I am certainly convinced that we don't say often enough how much we love each other. I am sure that we never praise each other enough. I do not want that to be the case here....My whole family is blessed because of the Whaleys and we praise God that we have them as friends.

Destin 2009

We had an amazing week in Destin, Fl. Some dear friends of ours were offered a house to stay in for a week and they invited us to join them. As if we even needed to think about it....our answer was a resounding YES! We had a blast....playing in the sand, jumping over waves, swimming in the pool, having picnics, going shopping (mostly mommy enjoyed that!), and feeding alligators. We feel so blessed to have that week with our family and our sweet friends. There are a lot of pictures to scroll through, but I couldn't help it...I think they all turned out so great. Not that I am biased or anything!!

This is the house we stayed in. It could not have been more perfect...6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, a kitchen, and a dining room.
My sweet family our last morning at the beach.

"peek-a-boo"

Brothers having fun together!

Kaleb and Luke were buried in the sand.

One morning Aubri was exceedingly fussy (I think she was teething) so Rayden took her for a walk up and down the beach. After just 10 minutes she was cashed out. We traded places and I held her as she slept for over an hour.

This is her as I described earlier...."exceedingly fussy"

Aubri and I burying our feet in the sand
One of our many picnics out by the pool involved Pizza Hut and the Ice cream man. I think Aubri was enjoying herself just a little bit!

And what could be better to two 5 year old boys than Spiderman Ice cream...after consuming 4 pieces of pizza (each)

Nathan is ready for some action!

How sweet are these little angels??
Nathan and Daddy are feeding the alligators at Fuddpuckers. We didn't eat there, but we stopped by the check out the alligators. The boys thought I was awesome!
All the boys pretending to be alligators!

Mommy and Nathan jumping over waves
Is there anything sweeter than that little smile!?

Watching the waves....and what you can't see is that Aubri is crying every time the water hits her. Oh well....the picture looks good!

So much fun to go to the beach with your best buddies!

One of their favorite things to do was play in the "hot pool" ALL the kids liked it...so did the daddies!
Look at these studs....is there anything they can't handle?
Kaleb spent most of his time at the ocean running up and down the beach. Does that surprise anyone....nope....didn't think so!
What a handsome little kindergartner I have.

I love this picture of me and Aubri

My angel baby Nathan~

How handsome are these little fellas!

A successful photo shoot

After the last day of preschool I took the kids out by the waterfall and took some pictures. I think they turned out pretty good....although it's not hard when your subjects are the three most gorgeous kids on the planet!

A page has turned

We had our last day of preschool on Friday. Technically, KDO will be in session for one more week, but since we will be at the beach next week our time there for the year is done. It was a great year and I know the kids will miss it. Heck...I'll probably miss it as much, if not more, than them.

Aubri and her teachers Ms. Tina ad Ms. Lisa. Aubri fell in love with Ms. Tina this year. They became such good buddies. We will miss her when she moves to Louisville this summer.
This is Aubri's whole class...the fish. It's Aubri, Ms. Tina, Jackson (Jack Jack), Reid, Trey (trey Trey), Ms. Lisa, and Margo. Aubri has such cute friends.

Here is Nathan with his teachers Ms. Sherri and Ms. Sandi. Nathan was so blessed to have them as teachers this year. They were SO creative in their lessons and crafts. He made so many cool things and had lots of great games to play. Hopefully they will stick around until Aubri is old enough to be in that class!

Today was not just Kaleb's last day of KDO for the year....It was his last day of preschool EVER! What a bittersweet day it was. My little boy is growing up so very fast. How can it be that the next time I drop him off at school it will be for Kindergarten? He has really grown this year with his teachers, Ms. Lisa and Ms. Tami. He has learned so many things, made great friends, and they have helped him so much as he struggles to be still and focus. At our final Parent Teacher Conference they said that he is one of the smartest kids in class. They said that he is so close to being able to read and that they think he will do GREAT in school next year.

We were so blessed to have such great teachers this year. Next year Nathan will have Ms. Lisa and Ms. Tami and I know he will LOVE them! We aren't sure who Aubri will have yet, bu all the ladies at KDO are wonderful. And I am in diligent prayer for the teacher that Kaleb will get in Kindergarten. I am praying for a wise, patient, creative, consistent, energetic, kind teacher who will fall in love with Kaleb and be as committed to his best as we are! I KNOW MY GOD IS ABLE!
