eating cookies...sort of

So this was hilarious! We were outside swimming the other night when our neighbor popped over with some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for the boys. They were thrilled! They jumped out of the pool and were ready to devour them. There was no time to remove floaties...they needed those cookies and they needed them NOW! the only problem was that Nathan's sweet little arms weren't quite long enought to reach all the way to his move with those pesky life-saving devices on his arms. It sure was fun to watch him try time and time again!

Our first swim

We went for our first official swim tonight. What fun we had! The boys took a couple minutes to remember how much they love swimming, but after they got over the shock of the still somewhat chilly water they were unstoppable. Aubri loved it as well. She has a little ladybug float that she sits in and there is a shade that shields her from the sun...which is a good thing since she has a cutest ever teeny bikini! Couldn't you just eat her up!? How did we get so richly blessed? Anyway, we finished off the night with some grilled hot dogs and corn on the cob...does anything say "welcome summer" better than that? The pool is officially open for business...we hope to see all of you in it at some point this summer!

KDO Program

It was Cinco de Mayo when we did our Kid's Day Out program. Much to everyone's chagrin Kaleb did not do a repeat breakdancing routine. I, however, was very pleased at the growth he exhibited in being able to stand still for a longer period of time. We're taking baby steps! Although the eneving held no outrageous dance breaks, it wasn't without humorous moments. Kaleb did decide to bend down and see what he could find under the risers in the middle of a song. The audience mustered a chuckle...while secretly hoping he would do something crazier...I'm sure. Nathan did great too. He wasn't in the mood for too much singing that night, but he did participate heartily in the clapping as well as praying...very intense praying...as you can see. They both were the cutest kids on stage by far!

Our little Cubbie

Wednesday marked the end of the AWANA year for Kaleb. It was such a great year! Even though he started 4 months later than everyone else he STILL completed his entire book...that's 24 verses! I was amazed at his little memory! For completing his book he earned a teddy bear pin for his vest. You can just see the pride on his little face. And, to be perfectly honest, my face had some pride on it too...maybe just a little! It was a great night. After the ceremony we scooted over to McDonalds to celebrate with hot fudge sundaes and a romp in the playplace. What fun!

The beginning...

Well, this is the first entry to this new blog. So much is happening in the Hollis family that this seems to be the best way to keep everyone updated. I have had so much fun reading the blogs of my friends that I have been inspired to try one of my own. It will probably not be updated as often as Lindsay's or be as beautiful as Katie's, but I can promise that it will be filled with pictures of the most precious children you have ever laid eyes on. I hope you enjoy the ride...I know we certainly do!
